PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Provide specialist Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) governance, assurance and advisory services to organisational leaders and employees across the

Northern Territory. The role supports the effective implementation and continual improvement of HSE management systems, legislative compliance, risk management and safe systems of work through independent advice, assurance activities, data-informed decision making and collaborative engagement with operational leaders to protect people, the environment and organisational assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The “WHAT” to be delivered

Governance and Advisory

- Provide specialist governance oversight, independent advice and practical risk-based recommendations to leaders and workers to support informed operational decision-making.

- Support implementation of Power and Water's HSE Management System, ensuring legislative, regulatory and corporate requirements are effectively

embedded throughout the organisation.
- Provide specialist advice on health, safety, environmental and cultural heritage obligations associated with operational activities.
- Support leaders to understand their legislative responsibilities and maintain ownership of operational risk and HSE performance.

Assurance

- Develop, coordinate and undertake HSE assurance activities including workplace inspections, audits, field observations, verification activities and compliance reviews.

- Monitor effectiveness of critical risk controls and verify implementation of corrective actions arising from audits, investigations and assurance activities.
- Analyse HSE performance trends and provide reports, insights and recommendations to support continual improvement.

Risk Management

- Facilitate the identification, assessment and treatment of operational risks through structured risk assessment processes.

- Assist business units with development and review of safe systems of work including procedures, work instructions, standards and associated governance

documentation.
- Support implementation of enterprise risk management frameworks and critical risk programs.

Incident Management





- Lead or facilitate incident investigations using approved investigation methodologies, including ICAM.

- Identify immediate, underlying and root causes and assist operational leaders to develop practical corrective and preventative actions.
- Coordinate regulatory notifications and support interactions with external regulators where required.

Continuous Improvement

- Participate in development and continual improvement of HSE governance frameworks, standards, procedures, systems and tools.

- Promote learning through lessons learnt, assurance findings and organisational improvement initiatives.
- Support implementation of strategic HSE projects across the organisation.
