About the role
Neveco is seeking an experienced IT Support Officer to join our team in Devonport, Tasmania.
This position supporting an initial 12-month contract customer-site placement. You will remain employed and professionally managed by Neveco while working as an embedded member of the customer’s operational team.
The role is primarily site-based, with flexible working arrangements that may include some time working from home where operational requirements allow.
You will be the customer’s visible point of contact for day-to-day IT matters, providing first and second-line support and coordinating users, vendors and Neveco’s specialist technical team.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the onsite point of contact for day-to-day operational IT matters.
- Provide first and second-line technical support through remote and in-person assistance.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, user-account and network-connectivity issues.
- Triage requests and determine whether they can be resolved directly or require escalation.
- Gather information, reproduce faults and document issues before escalation.
- Coordinate users, external vendors and Neveco technicians during fault investigation.
- Monitor outstanding requests and assist with progressing unresolved matters.
- Administer user accounts, group memberships, access permissions and licensing within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Support SharePoint, OneDrive and Microsoft Teams.
- Coordinate the technology requirements associated with user onboarding, role changes and offboarding.
- Perform approved configuration changes within the authority of the role.
- Review access changes against properly authorised requests.
- Maintain IT asset, stock, computer, mobile-device and tablet records.
- Assist with computer lifecycle and standard operating environment replacement activities.
- Maintain accurate ticket notes, technical documentation and completion records.
- Provide practical guidance to help users work effectively with their technology.
- Escalate infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity and complex technical matters to Neveco specialists.
- Escalate changes that may introduce material security, operational or compliance risk.
Customer-site placement expectations
As an embedded Neveco team member, you will be expected to:
- Represent Neveco professionally at the customer site.
- Work independently within the agreed responsibilities and authority of the role.
- Coordinate day-to-day priorities with the customer’s nominated manager.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle customer information appropriately.
- Follow applicable site induction, workplace health and safety, security and access requirements.
- Maintain regular communication with Neveco and escalate issues when required.
What we’re looking for
- At least three years’ experience in business IT support, help desk or a comparable Level 2 role.
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows desktop and laptop environments.
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
- Experience managing user accounts, access permissions, licensing and password resets.
- Sound knowledge of networking fundamentals and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with ticketing and IT service-management systems.
- Strong diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to explain technical matters to non-technical users.
- A professional and patient approach to customer service.
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage competing support priorities.
- Sound judgement about when to resolve an issue and when to escalate it.
- A security-conscious approach to access, changes and sensitive information.
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of a broader technical team.
Experience in an embedded or customer-site IT support role would be advantageous.
Relevant IT certifications, such as Microsoft or CompTIA qualifications, are desirable but not essential where equivalent practical experience can be demonstrated.
