The Role

This position would report to the Engineer Reliability and is a residential position based in Mount Isa. This role will see you responsible for the monitor, maintain, repair and improve the oil and grease systems across the Lead Smelter to maximize plant life and availability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Promoting and reinforcing a culture of safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement including:

Comply with all site safety standards, procedures, and legislative requirementsConduct work in accordance with isolation, permit, and risk management proceduresParticipate in safety interactions, inspections, and hazard reportingEnsure housekeeping standards are maintained in all work areasPromote a proactive safety and reliability culture.

Condition Monitoring





Conduct routine condition monitoring inspections on fixed plant equipment including:

Vibration analysisThermographyUltrasonic inspectionsOil sampling and analysisVisual condition inspectionsMonitor and trend equipment health data using CMMS and condition monitoring softwareIdentify developing equipment defects and provide recommendations for corrective actionsAssist with failure investigations and root cause analysis (RCA)Support maintenance strategy optimisation through analysis of equipment condition dataGenerate condition monitoring reports and communicate findings to maintenance and operations teamsMaintain accurate records of inspections, defects, and corrective actions

Lubrication Management

Execute lubrication schedules for rotating and critical plant assetsPerform oil changes, grease application, contamination control, and lubricant top-upsEnsure correct lubricant selection and application in accordance with OEM and site standardsMaintain lubrication equipment and storage systems to best practice contamination control standardsConduct lubricant sampling and coordinate laboratory analysisIdentify lubrication-related failures and opportunities for improvementAssist in developing and improving lubrication routes and procedures.

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

Minimum experience of 3 years within the mining industry is preferredTrade qualification – Fitter (Mechanical) essentialCurrent manual driver’s licenseExperience with lubrication and hydraulic systemsExperience with oil analysis and condition monitoringExperience using CMMS systems such as SAP PMAbility to interpret vibration and oil analysis reportsUnderstanding of rotating equipment failure modesSound computer skillsA demonstrated commitment to safetyA self-motivated attitude and enjoy working in small yet highly productive teamsThe ability to adapt to change in duties from day to day
