The Role

This role augments our research support team over a wide remit, across disciplines, during an exciting period at Kingston University, working with our research and knowledge exchange institutes to grow our funded research, increasing collaboration, culture and quality. The role is ideal for someone starting their research support career, working with several different roles across the research support office to get good insight into each of those remits and to act as a lynchpin, connecting the different functions together. You will help our academics to win funding for their research and to ensure that the resulting projects run smoothly. You will have the opportunity to interact with many of the systems supporting research, to work with our business engagement team and to liaise with the Finance team dedicated to this area. We share an office with wider research, research student and business engagement functions. By the end of the fixed term role, you will have good knowledge across many aspects of research and knowledge exchange support.

The Person

You will be inquisitive and eager to learn new things, excited by the generation of new knowledge and how that advantages wider society and have strong attention to detail. Qualified at least to degree level, you will have a high standard of financial literacy and numeracy and good interpersonal skills.

You will need to communicate effectively with staff at all levels including senior roles.

You will have a wide-ranging and varied workload, so we expect excellent prioritisation and project management skills alongside high IT proficiency. The successful candidate will be enthused about supporting research and able to inspire others with their enthusiasm.

Directorate/Function

The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre, Brand, Communications and Public Affairs and Development, Alumni Relations & Engagement (DARE). The Directorate is responsible for stimulating cutting edge research, impact and knowledge exchange and supporting a vibrant community of graduate research students, to increase the volume, impact and visibility of our research and business activities.

We actively liaise with Faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines and provide related training and development opportunities. We foster interdisciplinary working to promote, advance and share knowledge with the overall aim of securing current revenue sources and contributing to regional prosperity. Our goal is to foster and sustain a vibrant research culture in which our researchers and research students can flourish.
