Eden Ritchie Recruitment are seeking an experienced Land Research Officer to undertake detailed land tenure research and analysis supporting Native Title claims, compensation claims and Indigenous Land Use Agreements.

Working within a specialist team, you will research and interpret land tenure information, legislation, policy and procedures to provide accurate information for the determination of land tenure matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Undertake tenure research and analyse and interpret land tenure information.
- Work with spatial information specialists to obtain relevant mapping and supporting information.
- Collate information relating to Native Title claims, compensation claims and Indigenous Land Use Agreements.
- Research land tenure matters and identify and escalate sensitive, complex or indeterminate issues.
- Prepare and contribute to briefs, reports and court documents.
- Research, interpret and implement relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Support liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, Indigenous groups, industry bodies and members of the public.
- Maintain accurate records using departmental databases and information systems.
- Produce reports and statistical information relating to State Land dealings.
- Work collaboratively across the team, including providing peer review and on-the-job support where required.

- The ability to learn and effectively use information and database systems.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to respectful and inclusive stakeholder engagement.
- Willingness and ability to travel, including to rural and remote locations where required.

Experience or an interest in planning, environmental science or management, spatial science, business, law or project management will be well regarded.

Highly desirable experience includes

- Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Using digital applications and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

A current driver's licence is mandatory, or you must have the ability to obtain one within six months of commencement. The role may involve driving on dirt roads and sand tracks in remote locations. This is a fantastic chance to develop specialist expertise in land tenure and Native Title matters while contributing to important land and stakeholder outcomes across Queensland.
