OHS Consultant Geelong & Regional Victoria
SMARTin Safety is an industry leading occupational health and safety consulting firm, servicing Geelong, Melbourne and South Western Districts of Victoria.
To support our next phase of growth, we are looking to create the new role of OHS Consultant.
This position will report to the Managing Director and be directly responsible for:Lead and manage health and safety functions for client projects / activitiesImplement and maintain client Safety Management System and project-specific safety plansProvide visible leadership and coaching to site teams and subcontractorsConduct risk assessments, incident investigations and safety auditsEnsure compliance with WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and project requirementsFacilitate toolbox talks, training, inductions and safety meetingsMonitor safety performance, reporting and continuous improvement initiativesBuild strong working relationships with the client and regulatory bodies




Other Responsibilities:Delivering the WorkSafe Victoria OHS Essentials ProgramDeveloping a range of safety management system documentation including (but not limited to):Policies & ProceduresSWMSSite Safety DocumentationEmergency Management PlansPsychosocial Risk Assessments and Prevention PlansTraffic Management PlansCompleting internal and/or 3rd party audits and inspectionsDelivering training programs including SWMS training, and OHS general awareness
To be successful in the role, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to meet the key criteria as outlined below:Tertiary qualification in OHS or relevant fieldAIHS Certification (or willingness to work towards)Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction OHS advisory / consulting roleSound knowledge of Victorian legislation, standards and guidelines related to OHSExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to lead, influence and drive positive safety behaviours on siteA proactive, solutions-focused approach with robust attention to detail
The following attributes are desirable:Cert IV in Training and AssessmentPrevious experience in a consulting or serviced based business
