Hewitt Consulting Engineers – North Sydney NSW

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a valued role within our engineering team, working closely with the Director and senior engineers on the delivery of a varied project portfolio. This position is ideally suited to an engineer with 3–5+ years of experience who is looking to build on a strong technical foundation, take on greater responsibility, and grow both technically and commercially within a stable, supportive consultancy.

Key responsibilities

- Design mechanical HVAC systems in accordance with relevant codes and standards
- Perform heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system scheduling
- Contribute to and coordinate multidisciplinary project delivery, working alongside architects, contractors, and other consultants
- Support client relationships and communications under the guidance of senior staff
- Conduct site inspections and surveys
- Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documentation and specifications
- Provide guidance and support to graduate and junior engineers as your experience develops

About you

- 3–5+ years of local experience in the construction industry
- Experience in consulting mechanical building services, multidisciplinary design coordination, and working with contractors




- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high level of professional English proficiency
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and/or Revit (desirable but not essential); drafting experience an advantage
- A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused mindset
- Strong technical collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team
- Valuable initiative, problem-solving ability, and time management
- A collaborative approach to design and project coordination
- A genuine desire to add value to our systems, processes, and culture
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
