About Darren Lange Swimming Academy The Darren Lange Swimming Academy (DLSA) was founded in 1994 by Olympic swimmer and Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Darren Lange. With more than 30 years of experience in swimming education, DLSA is committed to providing high-quality swimming instruction in a secure, supportive and positive environment.

Darren’s extensive knowledge of swimming biomechanics and efficient movement through the water has shaped the development of the DLSA Learn to Swim Program. Our program focuses on building strong swimming technique, water safety skills, confidence and a lifelong love of swimming.

We are looking for passionate, reliable and enthusiastic people to join our team as Learn to Swim Instructors. Experienced instructors are encouraged to apply, and we are also open to training enthusiastic new instructors from 16 years of age.

About the Role

As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you will deliver structured swimming lessons to children and adults in accordance with the DLSA Learn to Swim Program, teaching standards and water safety procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering engaging, structured and age-appropriate swimming lessons.
- Teaching swimming skills, water safety and efficient stroke technique.
- Demonstrating swimming skills and providing clear, positive feedback.
- Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual swimmers and their abilities.
- Monitoring swimmer progress and contributing to their ongoing development.
- Creating a safe, supportive and encouraging learning environment.
- Following DLSA safety procedures, pool rules and operational requirements.
- Communicating professionally and positively with parents, caregivers and team members.
- Preparing for lessons and maintaining appropriate lesson organisation.
- Working collaboratively with the wider DLSA team.
- Continuing to develop your swimming teaching knowledge and skills through training and professional development.

Experience & Qualifications For experienced applicants, qualifications and experience in swimming instruction are highly regarded, including AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia or other recognised swimming teaching qualifications.

Previous Learn to Swim teaching experience is desirable but not essential for the right applicant.

We also welcome applications from trainees aged 16 years and over who are passionate about swimming, enjoy working with children and are interested in developing a career in swimming instruction. Training and support will be provided to suitable candidates as they work towards the relevant qualifications.

A current CPR, First Aid, water safety or lifeguarding qualification is highly regarded, with relevant qualifications required as applicable to the role and DLSA requirements.

Availability The role may include:

- Early mornings
- Afternoons
- Evenings
- Weekdays
- Saturdays
- School holiday periods

Availability will depend on our current class timetable and the applicant's experience and suitability.
