About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Electrician to join our manufacturing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a trade-qualified electrician who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys solving technical challenges.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our production equipment and manufacturing operations. Your primary responsibility will be to perform preventative, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance across a range of automated production machinery and equipment. You will troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults, minimise downtime, and contribute to continuous improvement projects that enhance operational performance.
This role requires a proactive approach, strong fault-finding capabilities, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
As a Maintenance Electrician, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out preventative, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance on production machinery, plant, and equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
- Responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and implementing safe and efficient solutions to restore operations.
- Conducting inspections, testing,
and maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
- Installing, wiring, testing, and commissioning new machinery, equipment, and electrical systems.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, drives, sensors, and associated control systems.
- Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Assisting with machinery upgrades, process improvements, and automation projects.
- Supporting planned maintenance shutdowns, equipment overhauls, and capital improvement initiatives.
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance practices.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with electrical standards, workplace safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Accurately recording maintenance activities, repairs, and asset information within maintenance systems.
- Collaborating closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to achieve operational goals.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment while actively contributing to a robust safety culture.
About You To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified and experienced Maintenance Electrician with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence. You will possess excellent problem-solving skills, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Skills and Experience
- Current South Australian Unrestricted Electrical Licence (essential).
- Previous experience working as a Maintenance Electrician in a manufacturing, production, industrial, or FMCG environment.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting production machinery and automated equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across electrical and control systems.
- Demonstrated experience in both preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, variable speed drives, sensors, and industrial control systems will be highly regarded.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and electrical compliance standards.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused approach to work.
