Practice Nurse (RN) | No Nights or Weekends | Loch Sport & Sale

Join our nursing team as our sixth practice nurse

Sale Medical Centre is a busy general practice serving Sale, Maffra and Loch Sport in Gippsland. We are looking for a Registered Nurse who wants to work at the top of their scope in primary care.

If chronic disease management is the part of nursing you find most satisfying, this role is built around it. You will follow the same patients over years rather than episodes: writing their care plans, tracking whether the plan is working, and adjusting it with the GP when it isn’t. That continuity is what makes general practice nursing different.

If you are coming from aged care or hospital shift work, here is what changes: no nights, no weekends, no on-call, no public holidays. You will finish when the clinic closes.

The role

Approximately 22 hours per week across three days:

- Monday and Wednesday at our Loch Sport clinic
- Tuesday or Thursday at Maffra or Sale

At Loch Sport you work as part of a small team alongside a GP, and on some days a Nurse Practitioner as well. You practise within your scope with the GP on site, so clinical support is always at hand. What is different about a smaller site is the breadth: you see the full range of presentations and you get to know the community properly. You are also one of six nurses across the practice.

You will need a current driver’s licence and your own vehicle.

What you will be doing

- Developing, reviewing and managing chronic disease care plans
- Pathology collection, including venepuncture and specimen handling
- Health assessments and preventative care

- Immunisations, vaccinations and injections
- Wound care, dressings and suture removal
- Assisting doctors with clinical procedures and minor surgery
- Recall and reminder follow-up, so patients don’t fall through the gaps
- Infection control and instrument sterilisation

What you need

Essential

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Confident, independent venepuncture, including difficult draws
- A genuine interest in chronic disease management and longitudinal care
- Sound clinical assessment skills and confidence practising within your scope in a small team
- Current CPR certification
- Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Police Check, Working with Children Check and full working rights in Australia

Desirable, and we will train you

- General practice experience, GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements
- Health assessments (75+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, 45-49)
- Anaphylaxis competency, nurse immuniser endorsement, cervical screening
- Spirometry, ECG and ABPM
- Best Practice software

No general practice experience? We are happy to hear from nurses moving across from acute, community or aged care. If you can take blood and you care about following patients over the long term, we will teach you the rest. You will orient alongside our nursing team before you start at Loch Sport.

What we offer

- Above the award rate, set roster, pro rata leave.
- Paid professional development and support toward nurse immuniser, cervical screening and other endorsements
- A up-to-date clinic with new equipment
