Commodities and Logistics Manager – Full Time
Coulton Farming | Goondiwindi, QLD – Starting Early October
Join a growing agricultural business and grow with us in a key role.
Coulton Farming is seeking a motivated, organised and commercially minded Commodities and Logistics Manager to join our team in Goondiwindi.
Based from our brand-current, state-of-the-art workshop and offices, you’ll play a key role in coordinating our truck fleet and grain movements, ensuring our transport operations run efficiently, safely and profitably.
Logistics coordination will be the main focus, but we’re looking for someone who wants to take ownership, improve the way we operate and grow with the business. For the right person, there is genuine opportunity to develop into a broader operations and commercial role.
About the Role
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Scheduling truck pickups, deliveries and driver workloads.
- Liaising with drivers, customers and grain storage facilities.
- Managing grain movements, storage capacity and truck utilisation.
- Assisting the CFO with truck fleet budgets and monthly reporting.
- Monitoring transport costs, activity and performance.
- Managing transport documentation and taking ownership of NHVAS compliance.
- Using Excel, Xero and MyTrucking to manage and monitor operations.
- Solving operational issues and responding to changing priorities.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and efficiency.
- Working directly with the business owners on operational planning and decisions.
About You
We’re looking for someone with strong organisational and communication skills who can confidently manage multiple priorities and take ownership.
Experience or knowledge in the following would be highly regarded:
- Transport, logistics and/or agriculture.
- Financial awareness and an understanding of business costs, margins and profitability.
- Grain movements, storage or marketing.
- Freight rates, transport costs, fleet utilisation and profitability.
- NHVAS, Excel and business management software.
A practical, common-sense approach and the ability to work independently are essential.
You don’t need to tick every box. We’re more interested in finding the right person with the attitude, capability and willingness to learn and grow.
The Opportunity
This is more than a transport scheduling role. As Coulton Farming grows, there is potential for the successful applicant to take on greater responsibility across:
- Transport and fleet management.
- Grain movements and storage.
- Cost control, budgeting and financial reporting.
- Grain marketing and broader commercial decision-making.
- Business systems and process improvement.
We want someone who is interested in becoming a key member of the business, not simply filling a position.
What We Offer
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Monday to Friday.
- Competitive salary based on experience and capability.
- Work vehicle.
- On-call responsibilities when trucks are operating.
- Brand-new workshop and office facilities.
- Direct access to the business owners and decision-makers.
- Genuine autonomy and opportunity to make a difference.
- Room to grow as the business grows.
