About the Role:
Curtin University is seeking an experienced and strategic School Business Manager to join the School of Nursing. Reporting to the Head of School, you will play a pivotal leadership role, providing high-level business advice and executive support to the Head and Deputy Heads of School while acting as the key liaison between the School and the University's professional service areas.
In this diverse and influential role, you will lead the School's day‑to‑day operations, ensuring the effective delivery of administrative and business functions that support both operational excellence and the School's strategic objectives. You will provide leadership, guidance and management to the professional team, oversee the planning and delivery of key strategic initiatives and projects, and work closely with the University's finance team to develop, monitor and manage the School's budgets and resources.
Your responsibilities will include:

- Develop and implement effective financial strategies and systems to ensure the smooth operation of the School of Nursing.
- Manage and monitor the school budget, including forecasting, tracking expenditure, and providing regular reports to the senior management team.
- Work closely with the school leadership to identify areas for cost‑saving and efficiency improvement.
- Oversee procurement processes, ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and reporting.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria):

- Significant leadership and management experience, with a proven ability to achieve operational outcomes through the effective planning and use of resources.
- Strong business planning and analytical skills, with experience developing, implementing and evaluating initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, fostering a positive, customer‑focused culture while supporting staff to achieve shared goals.
- Sound financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, monitoring resources and supporting informed business decision‑making.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, resolve complex stakeholder matters and build productive partnerships across diverse groups.

Desirable:





- A relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Experience working within the higher education sector and an understanding of the opportunities and challenges of a university environment.

- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered

This is a full time, permanent position with a salary range between $142,841 - $150,891 (G09) per annum, plus 17% superannuation and generous leave entitlements.
