We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to join our client in PNG. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanical engineer with strong fixed plant maintenance, reliability and project experience to play a key role in supporting safe, reliable and efficient plant operations.

Working closely with maintenance, operations, reliability and project teams, you will provide mechanical engineering support across fixed plant assets, drive reliability improvements, undertake engineering and maintenance projects, and identify opportunities to reduce downtime and lifecycle costs.

We're looking for someone who is technically minded, analytical and self-motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and practical experience in a mining maintenance environment.

What the Role Entails

- Provide mechanical engineering support to site production and maintenance teams.
- Support the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of fixed plant assets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and lower lifecycle costs.
- Undertake mechanical engineering and design activities from concept through to execution.
- Deliver OPEX maintenance and improvement projects within budget and required timeframes.
- Participate in CAPEX projects and provide mechanical engineering input as required.
- Conduct engineering trials and initiatives aimed at extending equipment life and improving asset performance.
- Monitor plant performance metrics and prepare engineering reports.
- Investigate equipment failures and losses using Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) methodologies.




- Assess asset criticality and develop and implement strategies to improve equipment reliability.
- Champion Management of Change (MOC) processes.
- Work closely with maintenance planners, supervisors, trades, reliability engineers and project teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to tradespeople, planners and junior/graduate engineers.
- Work collaboratively with OEMs, contractors, suppliers and service providers.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, equipment performance and cost effectiveness.

What You Will Need

- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mining or a related heavy industry environment.
- Strong experience with fixed plant maintenance and mechanical engineering.
- Practical knowledge of fixed plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, grinding mills, flotation, tanks and tailings systems.
- Demonstrated experience in asset management, maintenance engineering and/or reliability.
- Experience delivering maintenance, improvement or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement principles.
- Experience working with a CMMS/EAM system, preferably SAP.
- Strong organisational, planning and project management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
