Remuneration: $278,355 to $376,068 per annum full time equivalent depending on experience

About the Role

Clarence Network including Grafton Base, Maclean District Hospitals is seeking a temporary Staff Specialist to fill the role of Director Medical Services to ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of the range of Medical Services as negotiated with the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD). *This vacancy is maternity leave relief for an initial period of up to 16 weeks from 09 November 2026 to 28 February 2027 for up to 40 hours per week; the hours and period of employment may change according to the maternity leave requirements. There is also the possibility of an extension at same / reduced hours.

1. Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Medical Administrator, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways, or working towards such eligibility, or relevant qualifications and experience as a medical practitioner
2. Demonstrated leadership experience and achievement as a Senior Manager in a Health Service, including strategic planning, medical workforce planning and management, and change management
3. Demonstrated capability to effectively manage medical administration departments within similar health care organisation
4. Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of clinical governance and clinical risk management and demonstrated capacity to implement and maintain continuous quality improvement management strategies
5. Sound understanding of contemporary Health Service issues and the proven ability to prioritise and effectively manage resources to address these issues
6. Demonstrated effective communication, negotiation, consultative and interpersonal skills, incorporating the ability to liaise and consult with all levels of the health industry, the community and various professional groups
7. Valid unrestricted drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment
8. Ability to participate in Executive on call roster
