Weight Issues Network (WIN)
The Weight Issues Network (WIN) is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced leaders to join our Board as a Board-Appointed Director.
WIN is a national consumer-led organisation representing people living with overweight and obesity. We work to reduce weight stigma, amplify lived experience voices, advocate for equitable access to evidence-based care, and partner with researchers, clinicians, policymakers and community organisations to improve health outcomes for Australians affected by obesity.
As WIN continues to grow and strengthen its impact, we are seeking a Board Director who can contribute significant expertise in fundraising, philanthropy, sponsorship, revenue development and organisational sustainability.
About the Opportunity The WIN Board has recently completed a Board Skills Matrix review and identified a strategic capability gap in fundraising and organisational sustainability. We are seeking an individual who can bring practical experience, leadership and networks to help WIN strengthen its long-term financial sustainability and support the organisation's future growth. This is an opportunity to contribute at an important point in WIN's development.
WIN is currently considering the organisational capabilities and structure needed to support its long-term sustainability, and the successful candidate will bring valuable strategic expertise to the Board during this period.
Skills and Experience Sought
We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising and philanthropy
- Major donor cultivation and stewardship
- Corporate partnerships and sponsorship development
- Revenue diversification and growth strategies
- Business development
- Social enterprise or innovative not-for-profit business models
- Strategic partnership development
- Organisational sustainability and growth
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
Candidates may have gained their experience through executive leadership, senior management, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, fundraising, business development, consulting, social enterprise, or board governance roles.
What We Are Looking For In addition to the specialist expertise outlined above, applicants should demonstrate:
- A commitment to the mission and values of WIN
- Strong strategic and governance capabilities
- Integrity, sound judgement and accountability
- The ability to work collaboratively within a skills-based Board
- An appreciation of the importance of consumer leadership and lived experience
- A willingness to act as an ambassador for WIN and support its strategic objectives
Previous board experience is desirable but not essential.
Time Commitment
Board Directors are expected to:
- Attend regular monthly Board meetings throughout the year
- Participate in relevant Board committees or working groups as required
- Contribute to strategic planning and governance discussions
- Support the advancement of WIN's mission and long-term sustainability
Board positions are voluntary and non-remunerated.
Director Appointment The successful candidate will be appointed as a Board-Appointed Director in accordance with WIN's Constitution and governance processes and will be subject to the Board's standard recruitment, assessment and appointment procedures.
