Operations Manager — Construction Products | Imports, Production & Logistics

Own operations end to end.

Axiom is a national supply-only fabricator and importer of balustrades, glazing systems, privacy screens, architectural metalwork and façade systems. We supply Tier 1 and Tier 2 head contractors on projects across Australia, from our Melbourne base.

The bulk of our product is manufactured offshore and shipped in. The balance is made locally. Every project passes through order entry, procurement, production, QC, our warehouse and out to site — and this role owns all of it.

Once a project is handed over from Pre-Delivery, it's yours. You lead six functions, you control what gets released to the factories, and you're the person who can answer "where is it?" without checking with anyone.

The role

Lead the operations teams

- Manage the Order Entry, Procurement, QS, Drafting (delivery phase), Production and Logistics teams
- Set priorities across six functions competing for the same projects, and keep them sequenced rather than colliding
- Take ownership of projects at handover from Pre-Delivery and carry them to final delivery

Control the order and the cost

- Control and authorise release of orders to factories in line with the Project Coordinator's approved schedule
- Ensure goods are procured, produced and delivered strictly in accordance with approved IFC drawings and the BOQ
- Prevent unauthorised scope, quantity or specification changes — this is where margin is protected or lost
- Monitor and control costs against approved allowances

Run the supply chain

- Manage procurement and production sequencing across offshore and local supply
- Organise and own QC inspections, including at our offshore factories
- Manage RFIs from production and suppliers
- Manage logistics,



freight and delivery sequencing nationally, including interstate projects you won't walk onto yourself

Own the status

- Arrange deliveries with the client and hold the program conversation when dates move
- Act as the single point of accountability for order status across every live project
- Ensure NetSuite reflects accurate, real-time status across all operational activity

What you'll bring

- Project coordination experience in the Australian construction industry — non-negotiable. You understand a head contractor's program and what a slipped critical path date actually costs
- Direct experience importing from China — supplier management, production lead times, INCOTERMS, freight forwarding and customs clearance
- Proven experience leading multi-function teams, not just running a schedule
- Working fluency with IFC drawings and BOQs, and the discipline to hold a BOQ line under pressure from site
- Robust ERP rigour — NetSuite or similar — and a written-record habit over memory
- Mandarin highly regarded, not essential
