Lacco Enterprises Pty Ltd is a growing Cairns-based waste management and transport business operating two brands – Tropical Skips Cairns and Big Boyz Binz.

We have grown significantly since Tropical Skips was purchased in 2019 and now have a team of approximately 16 employees, a growing fleet of trucks and a large inventory of skip bins servicing residential, commercial and industrial customers throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland.

Following the acquisition and continued growth of Big Boyz Binz, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operations and continued growth of the Big Boyz Binz brand.

This is a newly created position with genuine scope to shape the role and have a significant impact on the future direction of the business.

About the role

This isn't a traditional office-based management position.

You will be responsible for running the day-to-day customer and operational side of Big Boyz Binz while also helping strengthen our business systems, workplace health and safety and marketing.

You will work directly with the Managing Director and alongside our existing Operations Manager and Recycling & Maintenance Manager.

You will have responsibility for three allocated drivers, including scheduling their daily work, while working collaboratively with the wider fleet to ensure jobs are allocated according to customer priority and driver availability. The role will also require assistance in running the Tropical Skips customer base during the time where annual leave has been booked, with the support of the Managing Director.

The role will suit someone who enjoys being given responsibility, making decisions and improving the way a business operates.

Key responsibilities

Big Boyz Binz operations

- Manage the Big Boyz Binz phone, enquiries and customer bookings.

- Prepare quotes and convert enquiries into sales.

- Manage customer relationships from initial enquiry through to delivery and collection.

- Schedule and coordinate three allocated drivers.

- Place and manage Big Boyz Binz orders.

- Coordinate with the Tropical Skips Operations Manager to efficiently utilise the shared truck fleet.

- Prioritise jobs based on customer requirements, urgency and driver availability.

- Monitor and improve customer service and response times.

- Follow up quotations and develop repeat business.

Sales & business development

- Identify opportunities to grow Big Boyz Binz.

- Develop relationships with builders, contractors, businesses and other commercial customers.





- Follow up leads and quotations.

- Identify opportunities for new products, services and markets.

- Help develop and implement sales strategies.

Workplace Health & Safety

You will have a key role in coordinating WHS compliance across the business, including:

- Maintaining WHS systems and documentation.

- Coordinating inductions and training records.

- Maintaining SWMS, policies and procedures.

- Coordinating toolbox meetings and safety initiatives.

- Recording and following up incidents and corrective actions.

- Assisting with internal safety inspections and audits.

- Identifying opportunities to improve workplace safety.

- Working with management and employees to maintain a strong safety culture.

Marketing & social media

- Manage and develop the Big Boyz Binz & Tropical Skips social media presence.

- Create and coordinate regular content.

- Promote products, services, projects and company achievements.

- Assist with website updates and online marketing.

- Develop ideas to generate new enquiries and leads.

- Work with external marketing providers where required.

Business improvement

- Identify inefficient processes and develop better ways of doing things.

- Help implement new systems and procedures.

- Improve customer and operational workflows.

- Assist management with reporting and KPIs.

- Take ownership of projects and see them through to completion.

How the shared fleet will work A key part of this role is understanding that Tropical Skips and Big Boyz Binz operate as separate brands but share the same operational resources.

You will have primary responsibility for scheduling three drivers, while the Tropical Skips Operations Manager will schedule four drivers.

However, the seven drivers will operate as a shared fleet.

The guiding principle will be:

The highest-priority suitable job is allocated to the earliest available suitable driver.

This means you will need to communicate effectively with the Tropical Skips Operations Manager and make decisions based on what is best for the overall business and customer – rather than simply protecting "your" drivers.

About you

- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment.

- Willing to get involved and visit the depot/site when required.

Experience in transport, logistics, waste management, construction, fleet operations or a similar industry would be highly regarded, but we are more interested in the right person and their ability to take ownership than a particular industry background.

The working arrangement

This role offers genuine flexibility.

The position can be performed substantially from home, with the successful applicant expected to attend our Cairns operations/site as required for meetings, operational matters, WHS activities and to maintain robust relationships with the team.

We are looking for someone who can work independently while still being actively involved in the business.

- $95,000–$105,000 super, depending on experience.
