About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking motivated and reliable Orderlies to join our team on a full time or part time basis. As an Orderly, you'll play an essential behind-the-scenes role in supporting the safe, efficient operation of one of Queensland's leading hospitals.

Working alongside clinical and support teams, you'll help ensure patients receive timely care while contributing to a positive experience for patients, visitors and staff every day. The role involves patient transport, ward support, housekeeping and responding to the changing needs of a busy healthcare environment.

Salary range: $32.03 - $34.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As an important member of our Clinical Support Services team, you'll provide practical support that keeps hospital services running smoothly. You will:

- Safely transport patients throughout the hospital using wheelchairs, beds, trolleys and other approved equipment.
- Assist nursing and clinical staff with patient handling, transfers, mobilisation and other non-clinical support tasks.
- Support ward operations through linen, waste and equipment management.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations, including fire, trauma and other hospital codes.
- Exchange beds, replace medical gas cylinders and complete general ward support duties.
- Safely operate internal patient transport vehicles where required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming setting for patients, visitors and staff.
- Work collaboratively across departments while adapting to changing operational priorities.

About you You are a dependable,



physically capable and customer-focused team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. You remain calm under pressure, take pride in delivering excellent service and are committed to supporting safe, high-quality patient care. You will bring:

- Current manual driver's licence (mandatory).
- Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, hospitality or service environment is highly regarded.
- Certificate III in Health Support Services (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to perform physically demanding work safely and effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine patient-first approach.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound judgement, reliability and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Commitment to workplace safety, infection prevention and following established policies and procedures.
