Role Description The Owner role at Griffith University is a full-time, on-site position based in Brisbane, QLD, responsible for overseeing strategic direction, operational performance, and stakeholder relationships within an assigned portfolio, program, or business unit. Day-to-day tasks include setting priorities, defining objectives, and monitoring progress to ensure alignment with the university’s vision, values, and regulatory requirements.
The role involves leading high-level decision-making, managing budgets and resources, and collaborating with academic and professional staff to support student success, research excellence, and community engagement. The Owner is expected to maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners,
identify opportunities for innovation and improvement, and ensure that initiatives are sustainable, inclusive, and future-focused. This position requires a hands-on presence across campus activities, with regular participation in meetings, governance processes, and strategic planning sessions.
Qualifications
- Strategic leadership and governance skills, including experience setting vision, priorities, and long-term goals within complex organizations.
- Operational management capabilities, such as budget oversight, resource allocation, risk management, and process improvement.
- Stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with diverse academic, professional, industry, and community partners.
- Change management and innovation skills, with a proven ability to drive new initiatives, support transformation, and adapt to evolving higher education landscapes.
- Background in higher education, research, or a related sector, with understanding of quality assurance, regulatory frameworks, and student-focused outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, management, education, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, sustainability, and ethical leadership within a multicultural environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and evidence to guide strategy and operations.
