Become a 'Friends of Parks' volunteer at Mapleton Falls National Park and help the local Rangers with a variety of activities that will benefit a much-loved rainforest ecosystem on the Blackall Range.
These tasks may include
- manual removal of various weeds
- minor maintenance and repairs to the walking track
- maintenance tasks including oiling of picnic tables and painting orientation signs
- native revegetation and planting
- rubbish collection
- recording of fauna and flora observations, and more
Over time we hope the group develops a connection with the area and continues to gain knowledge and appreciation for this national park.
As a volunteer, you can expect to:
- make connections with like-minded people and other local environmental groups;
- learn about the different ecosystems and identify native and invasive species that exist within the park;
- gain hands-on experience with secure work methods and best practice environmental management and trail building techniques;
- enjoy being active outdoors and feel good about helping the environment;
- meet local QPWS Rangers who manage these areas.
