Project Support Officer – Construction & Renovations

Are you an organised construction professional who loves getting the details right and making sure projects are set up for success?
O’Shea Trades is looking for a Project Support Officer to work alongside our Project Coordinators, taking responsibility for the initial setup and planning of projects before handing them over for delivery.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in residential construction, renovations and domestic roofing who understands what needs to happen behind the scenes to get a project ready to go.
What you'll be doing
Working under our Project Coordinators, you will be responsible for preparing projects so they are fully organised and ready for the Coordinator to take over.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up new projects in our systems
- Reviewing project scopes and identifying what needs to be organised
- Obtaining quotes from subcontractors and suppliers
- Comparing quotes and ensuring the correct contractors are engaged
- Building project timelines and preliminary schedules
- Creating detailed job plans and project documentation
- Coordinating with contractors, suppliers and trades during the setup phase
- Working with councils and relevant authorities to obtain permits and approvals
- Ensuring all required information, materials, contractors and documentation are ready
- Preparing a complete project handover for the Project Coordinator
- Supporting Project Coordinators with project administration and planning as required
- Identifying potential issues early and communicating them to the Project Coordinator
What we're looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in residential construction,
renovations or domestic roofing
- A strong understanding of construction processes and the different trades involved
- Experience dealing with subcontractors and suppliers
- Experience obtaining and coordinating quotes
- Understanding of council permits and approvals
- Strong organisational and administration skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good computer and systems skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication skills
- A proactive attitude and ability to solve problems
- The ability to work within a structured process and provide a thorough handover
The role
This isn't a traditional Project Manager role. Your job is to make our Project Coordinators' jobs easier.
You’ll take projects at the beginning, get everything organised, build the plan, coordinate the setup requirements and make sure the project is ready to go before handing it over to the Project Coordinator.
You’ll play an important role in making sure our projects start well, with the right information, trades, quotes, permits, timelines and plans already in place.
