ITASCA Australia operates from offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Orange and Hobart, delivering specialist consulting services and R&D; capabilities to clients across Australia and internationally.

We're seeking an experienced Principal Hydrogeologist to help grow our hydrogeology business. This role offers the opportunity to combine technical leadership, project delivery and business development while working on complex mine water projects across Australia and globally.

About the Role

As a Principal Hydrogeologist, you will play a key role in shaping the future direction of ITASCA's hydrogeology business in Australia. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across our Australian and international offices to deliver innovative groundwater solutions for mining and other resource sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Contribute to the development of ITASCA's hydrogeology consulting business in Australia.
- Identify, pursue and secure new consulting opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work and project plans.
- Participate across all stages of the project workflow, including data analysis, conceptualisation, model development, interpretation,



and reporting.
- Manage project delivery to ensure technical excellence and client satisfaction.
- Provide technical leadership in groundwater assessment and numerical modelling.
- Mentor and support the development of hydrogeology team members.
- Deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations.
- Represent ITASCA at industry conferences and skilled events.
- Contribute to innovative solutions in water-management strategies and at the interface of hydrogeology and geomechanics.
- Undertake site visits as required, including domestic and international travel.

What We're Looking For

Essential

- Minimum 15 years' experience in consulting and/or the mining industry, within the Australian market.
- Understanding the regulatory, commercial, and policy environments in which clients operate in Australia.
- Strong experience in groundwater modelling and assessment.
- Proficiency with modelling software (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, MINEDW or similar).
- Demonstrated success leading projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




- Ability to contribute to business development and strategic growth initiatives.
- Having a positive, proactive, and professional attitude, with the ability to work independently when required. Respecting alternative viewpoints and actively listening to colleagues and clients.

Highly Regarded

- Hydrochemistry or water quality experience.
- Established industry network and business development track record.
- Experience working across environmental, infrastructure or resource projects.
