KAEFER Australia is hiring for a Project Controls Engineer and Project Engineer (Structural Integrity) for 3-year contract, working on a 2/2 roster. The work will be FIFO working in NW Australia.

Project Controls Engineer

About the role

Kaefer Integrated Services Pty Ltd are seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to join our team and play a key role in driving performance, cost control, and schedule integrity. This is a hands-on role requiring equal parts field presence and analytical rigor.

Key Responsibilities

- Interface directly with site teams to capture weekly progress updates, identify constraints, and conduct field walkdowns to verify installed quantities across blasting and painting, compensation plate fabrication, and welding scopes.
- Oversee progress tracking, productivity analysis, and resource utilisation, translating field data into actionable insights that drive efficiency and performance.
- Collaborate with planning, operations, and project stakeholders to ensure reporting is accurate, timely, and supports informed decision-making at all levels.
- Support cost and labour forecasting in partnership with the commercial team, ensuring alignment between actual performance and project budgets.
- Manage cost systems and coding structures, ensuring data integrity and compliance with client reporting requirements.
- Analyse scope changes and their commercial impacts, implementing timely adjustments to cost, schedule, and forecast baselines.
- Prepare and manage progress claims, variations, and associated commercial documentation in accordance with contract requirements.
- Proactively identify project risks, delays, and cost exposures; support the development and implementation of mitigation strategies and recovery plans, including Extension of Time (EOT) claims where required.

About You

- Demonstrated experience in a Project Controls, planning, or commercial role within construction, resources, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong proficiency in cost management systems, scheduling software, and project reporting frameworks




- Solid understanding of contract administration, progress claims, and variation management.
- Ability to work effectively in a field environment and communicate clearly with site-based teams.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a track record of delivering accurate, timely reporting under project pressures.

Qualifications

- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar project scheduling software.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence and full Australian working rights.

Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities

- Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, cost control and progress reporting.
- Prepare work packs, method statements, ITPs, and ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors and resources to enable efficient execution.
- Manage daily progress tracking, earned hours, PF analysis and forecasting.
- Review drawings, identify structural integrity issues and raise TQs, RFIs or design clarifications as needed.
- Support QA/QC processes including inspections, redlines, MDR compilation and punch list close-out.
- Assist with risk management, change control, and variation development.
- Collaborate closely with SMP, commissioning and operations teams to resolve issues and keep work moving.
- Champion safety through preparation of secure work documentation and active field engagement.

About You

- Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Electrical or related) or shutdown environments (preferred but not essential).
- Minimum of 5years’ experience in mining & construction or heavy industrial
- Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Effective communicator with the confidence to work across multiple disciplines.
