An opportunity has become available for a Senior Staff Specialist or Staff Specialist (Rehabilitation Physician) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

About the role

Provide clinical specialist Rehabilitation Medicine support to the Complex Management Unit, making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient-centered clinical practice.

Provide medical leadership and contribution to the multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of safe and appropriate patient care. Provide skilled leadership within a specialist medical discipline and provide training, supervision and education to junior medical staff and other health care professionals.

Requirements for the role

- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B.
- Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required.
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.
- MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FAFRM or equivalent acceptable to the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and registrable as a Rehabilitation Medicine specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Candidates will be considered if they are anticipated to receive their Fellowship prior to March 2027.
- Ongoing registration with the AFRM of RACP as a Supervisor to Advanced Trainees in Rehabilitation Medicine.




- Certified copies of relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Strong clinical and teaching experience in Rehabilitation Medicine with specialist practice involving coordinating complex discharge plans.
- Evidence of disseminated Research in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine will be highly regarded.
- While not mandatory, training/qualifications/experience in Botulinum Toxin injection and the refilling of Intrathecal Baclofen pumps would be well regarded.
- The incumbent will be required to participate in an after-hours and on-call roster for the Rehabilitation Department.

Salary information

- Temporary part time (40 hours per fortnight, up to 3 years)
- Senior Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $127.85 - $135.55 p.h
- Staff Specialist: Base hourly rate from $106.91 - $124.18 p.h
- Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
