Our client is building out one of Australia's most ambitious distributed battery storage platforms — targeted for full deployment in the next two years. As the platform scales, they're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the safe, on-time and on-budget delivery of assigned sites, from FID through to energisation, registration and handover to Asset Management.
This is a genuine end-to-end delivery role. You'll take FID-approved projects from the Origination and Development team and drive them through procurement, construction, commissioning and COD — applying a standardised, repeatable delivery model across multiple concurrent sites.
The Role
- Own scope, schedule, cost, quality and HSSE outcomes for a portfolio of concurrent distributed BESS sites
- Develop and maintain integrated project plans, critical-path schedules and resourcing to meet contracted offtake milestones
- Build and run a standardised, multi-site delivery model — common scopes, BOP packages, schedules and controls
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasts and cash-flow projections, identifying and correcting variances early
- Lead project risk management through registers and governance forums
- Lead and mentor project coordinators and engineers within the delivery team
- Champion HSSE in design and construction, embedding safety-in-design and contractor WHS management
- Manage BOP contractors, OEMs and subcontractors — negotiation support, performance, progress and commercial administration
- Lead procurement: scope definition, RFQs, tender evaluation, supplier recommendations and PO management
- Manage external stakeholders including landowners, DNSPs, local councils, utilities and regulators
- Own commissioning and handover, ensuring clean technical, contractual and regulatory transfer at FID and COD
- Coordinate connection approvals with DNSPs, AEMO and relevant authorities to hit energisation and registration milestones
- Maintain project documentation — contracts, permits, design packages, as-builts, O&M; manuals, handover packs
- Drive defect rectification, punch-lists and warranty close-out
- Report progress, cost, risk and schedule to the Delivery Director and governance forums
- Run post-project reviews, feeding lessons learned back into the delivery framework
- Drive continuous improvement in tools, templates and processes across the portfolio
About You
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering, construction management, project management or a related discipline
- 7–10 years' experience in project management, project engineering or project delivery within BESS, solar, renewable energy or infrastructure, including at least 3 years in a project management role
- Proven track record delivering projects through the full lifecycle — development, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
- Strong understanding of Australian energy market frameworks: DNSP connection processes, NER requirements, AEMO registration and electrical safety standards
- Experience managing EPC and construction contracts, including performance management, variations, claims and commercial administration
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet or Procore
- Strong financial acumen — budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow and commercial reporting
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and commercial teams
Benefits You'll be at the centre of a large-scale renewable energy build-out, shaping a unique recent delivery model. If you thrive on turning complex, multi-site programs into a repeatable, well-governed delivery machine — and want to leave a lasting mark on the energy transition — we'd love to hear from you.
