Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a Public Health Environmental Health Our Way (EHOW) Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of the Environmental Health Our Way (EHOW) program across East Arnhem Land. Working in partnership with Yolŋu communities, Environmental Health Workers, Public Health staff and key stakeholders, the role will coordinate project delivery, workforce development and collaboration to strengthen environmental health practices, improve health outcomes, and support Aboriginal Community Control and Yolŋu self-determination.
Successful applicants will have access to a range of benefits, including:
- Competitive salary of $104,263 to $109,691 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Ability to Salary Package up to $15,900pa plus a further $2,650pa on Meals and Entertainment
- 6 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
Successful candidates may be eligible for the NT Thrive Relocation Grant – financial support of up to $10,000 to assist with moving, housing, wellbeing, cultural training, short courses and professional upskilling when relocating to the Northern Territory. Miwatj Health is an independent Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Service. Established in 1992, we’re committed to securing quality health care services across the East Arnhem and enabling YolÅ‹u powered community health and wellbeing. Miwatj provides culturally appropriate,
comprehensive primary health care to over 6,000 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents across 3 East Arnhem wards.
With a Head Office in Nhulunbuy, Miwatj also manages a Corporate Office in Darwin, 7 fixed clinics across the East Arnhem region, and dedicated outreach teams who travel to 3 additional locations.
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and implementing projects, including planning, stakeholder engagement, monitoring and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to support, mentor and build the capability of staff through coaching, education and workplace support.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, government agencies and other stakeholders in an intercultural setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of the social and environmental determinants of health and their impact on health outcomes in remote Aboriginal communities.
- Relevant qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in public health, environmental health, health promotion, community development, project management or a related field.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the East Arnhem region (approximately 5–10 days per month), including travel by light aircraft when required.
