Role Description A QA Tester / Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring software products, applications, APIs, and systems meet functional, performance, usability, reliability, security, and quality requirements. The role combines manual testing, automated test development, defect analysis, test planning, continuous integration, and collaboration with development and product teams to deliver reliable software.

Key responsibilities include analyzing business requirements, user stories, technical specifications, acceptance criteria, and system designs to develop comprehensive testing strategies; creating test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test execution schedules; performing functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, exploratory, usability, compatibility, and smoke testing; designing, developing, maintaining, and executing automated test scripts for web, mobile, desktop, API, and backend applications; identifying suitable automation opportunities and improving test coverage, execution speed, reliability, and maintainability; developing automation frameworks using tools and programming languages such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, REST Assured, Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or equivalent technologies; testing APIs and web services using Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar tools; validating databases, SQL queries, data flows, integrations, and backend processes; identifying, documenting, prioritizing, tracking, and retesting software defects using platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Bugzilla, or equivalent systems; conducting root-cause analysis in collaboration with developers and technical teams; participating in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives; integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent technologies; monitoring automated test results and investigating failures, flaky tests, environment issues, and regression defects; performing cross-browser, cross-platform, mobile-device,



and compatibility testing; supporting performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6, or equivalent technologies where applicable; collaborating with developers, product managers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, security teams, and other stakeholders to identify quality risks and improve software delivery; maintaining test documentation, automation frameworks, test environments, reusable components, and testing standards; supporting release validation and production-quality checks; utilizing AI-assisted testing, intelligent test generation, automated defect analysis, self-healing test automation, predictive quality analytics, and other contemporary QA technologies where appropriate; identifying opportunities to improve testing processes, automation coverage, development workflows, and overall software quality; and continuously improving test reliability, defect detection, release confidence, automation efficiency, and quality-engineering practices.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, QA methodologies, SDLC, STLC, Agile, Scrum, and software quality practices.
- Strong knowledge of functional, regression, integration, system, end-to-end, exploratory, smoke, usability, and compatibility testing.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or similar.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, WebdriverIO, or equivalent technologies.
- Strong understanding of API testing using Postman, REST Assured, SoapUI, or similar tools.




- Knowledge of SQL and database validation techniques.
- Familiarity with Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or other version-control systems.
- Understanding of CI/CD tools and pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with defect-management and project-management platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge of performance-testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, k6, or similar technologies is advantageous.
- Understanding of mobile application testing, cross-browser testing, responsive testing, and device compatibility is beneficial.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, containers, and distributed-system testing is beneficial.
- Familiarity with security testing concepts, vulnerability testing, authentication, authorization, and secure software-development practices is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to design scalable, maintainable, reusable, and reliable automation frameworks.
- Strong understanding of test data management, test environments, defect lifecycle, test reporting, and quality metrics.
- Familiarity with AI-powered testing, automated test generation, self-healing automation, intelligent defect detection, and AI-assisted QA tools is advantageous.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with developers, product managers, business analysts, DevOps teams, and technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, Certified Selenium Professional, AWS/Azure certifications, or other software-testing credentials are advantageous.
- High level of quality awareness, accountability, technical curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and staying informed about automation frameworks, AI-powered QA, DevOps, cloud technologies, software-testing methodologies, and emerging quality-engineering practices.
