As a valued member of the Sun Metals team, you'll play a key role in the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure smooth, reliable production. Working in a supportive team environment, you'll be part of a continuous shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off), giving you a balanced work-life rhythm while contributing to a high-performing refinery operation.

About The Employer

Located just 15km from the heart of Townsville, Sun Metals operates one of the world's most advanced zinc refineries. We produce high-quality Special High Grade Zinc and Zinc Alloy, along with valuable by-products including Sulfuric Acid, Copper, Cadmium, and Zinc Ferrite. Our operations span the full refining process-Roasting, Leaching, Purification, Electrolysis, and Casting-with products supplied to both domestic and international markets.

About The Candidate

- Clear and effective communication skills-both verbal and written

- Basic computer skills and a readiness to use digital tools in daily operations
- The physical fitness to safely perform manual tasks, including working in hot or dusty environments, climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and entering confined spaces
- The flexibility to work a continuous shift roster (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off)

- A reliable, punctual approach to work and strong personal accountability

What Will Set You Apart

While not essential, the following qualifications and experience will be highly regarded:

- Previous experience in refining, mining, or other heavy industry environments

- Hands-on experience operating and maintaining fixed plant equipment such as pumps, valves, and conveyors

- Familiarity with autoclave operations and related processing systems

- Possession of High Risk Work Licences, including Forklift (LF), Cabin Gantry Crane (CB), Elevated Work Platform (WP), or Remote Gantry Crane (LBG)

- A high school certificate is preferred; trade qualifications will be considered an advantage
