Role Description
This full-time, on-site role based in Adelaide, SA sits within the R&D; function of a leading manufacturer of residential electromechanical products. Operating at the intersection of product strategy, agile delivery, and market positioning, this is a dual-natured role that combines Product Owner accountability with Offer Marketing ownership across one or more agile squads.
You will own the product vision, define and maintain the backlog, and act as the voice of the customer inside the squad - translating customer needs, market intelligence, and business priorities into a clear, executable roadmap. Where the role extends into offer marketing responsibilities, you will also shape value propositions, define pricing strategy, conduct competitive analysis, and engage directly with customers and commercial stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
This role suits a commercially minded technical professional who is equally comfortable in sprint ceremonies as they are presenting a business case or articulating a product's unique value to a customer. Experience in electromechanical, electrical, or hardware product environments will be a strong advantage.
What You'll Be Doing
Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Define and own the product vision, value proposition, and strategic roadmap in alignment with broader portfolio and business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate customer needs, market trends, competitive dynamics, and technical innovations to inform product direction.
- Build, manage, and communicate the product roadmap to all relevant stakeholders, balancing technology feasibility, budget, resourcing, and time to market.
- Define and validate unique value propositions and go-to-market positioning for electromechanical product offers.
- Where required, define and maintain global reference pricing in line with value-based pricing principles and portfolio rationalisation goals.
Backlog Management and Prioritisation
- Create, own, and continuously refine the product backlog - ensuring it remains transparent, visible,
and well understood by the squad and stakeholders.
- Challenge and evaluate incoming requests from business, quality, and commercial teams, and lead offer requirement trade-offs.
- Streamline execution priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of features and components.
- Communicate backlog refinement clearly and ensure squad members understand items before committing to them in sprint.
- Build release plans and coordinate synchronisation with companion squads and league guidelines.
Sprint Delivery and Squad Support
- Define sprint objectives and achievement criteria in collaboration with the squad, ensuring each sprint contributes measurable customer value.
- Act as the primary obstacle trouble‑shooter - resolving capacity, dependency, and prioritisation issues that impact squad delivery.
- Serve as the voice of the customer for squad questions and support ongoing trade‑off decisions across schedule, cost, quality, and time to market.
- Review acceptance criteria regularly with the squad and ensure product and process robustness at key delivery milestones.
- Incorporate retrospective outcomes into iterative sprint planning and squad improvement cycles.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage directly with customers throughout the product lifecycle, gathering qualitative and quantitative insights to fuel the continuous feedback loop.
- Apply design thinking and customer empathy to ensure the customer perspective remains central to all product and offer decisions.
- Present product direction, roadmap updates, and outcomes to customers, commercial teams, and internal leadership.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders across zones, functions, and manufacturing or supply chain partners to support successful offer launches.
Market and Competitive Intelligence
- Conduct ongoing market research, customer segmentation analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform offer strategy and positioning.
- Translate market and customer insights into actionable product features, offer concepts, and business cases.
- Build and co‑develop business cases in collaboration with commercial zones and internal sponsors.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead, organise, motivate, and challenge the squad, acting as a connector between engineering, commercial, and business stakeholders.
- Provide transparency to key stakeholders on delivery progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Champion agile values, celebrate team success, and foster a collaborative,
high‑performance squad environment.
Essential Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Manager, or Offer/Product Marketing Manager in a product development or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of agile delivery frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban, with hands‑on experience in backlog ownership and sprint ceremonies.

- Commercial acumen with experience building or contributing to business cases, pricing strategies, and market segmentation analysis.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to say no constructively, lead trade‑off decisions, and maintain strategic focus under competing pressures.
- Experience working cross‑functionally in a matrix environment with engineering, commercial, and business teams.
- Exposure to electromechanical, electrical, hardware, or embedded product development environments.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in residential or industrial product categories, including an understanding of relevant compliance or regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with scaled agile environments (e.g. Scrum at Scale, SAFe, Nexus) and offer‑level backlog management across multiple squads.
- Background in offer lifecycle management, including product launch, operational enablement, and post‑launch iteration.

- Formal certification in product ownership, agile delivery, or marketing (e.g. RPO, CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, PMI‑ACP).
