Fergus Civil, is a growing civil construction company delivering quality projects across Mackay, the Whitsundays and surrounding regions.

Backed by decades of industry experience and a strong pipeline of work, we’re looking for an experienced and driven Civil Operations Manager to lead our civil operations.

About the Role

Reporting to senior management, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the civil division, supporting Project Managers, Site Supervisors and site teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently and profitably.

You will:

- Oversee multiple civil projects and operational activities

- Lead and support Project Managers, Site Supervisors and crews

- Coordinate labour, plant, equipment, materials and subcontractors

- Monitor project performance, costs, productivity and resources

- Ensure WHS, environmental and quality standards are maintained

- Identify and resolve operational and project challenges

- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers

- Drive accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement

- Assist with estimating, tendering and project planning

- Support the continued development and growth of Fergus Civil as a key part of the Fergus business

About You

You’re an experienced civil operator and leader who takes pride in quality work and team performance.





You will have:

- Relevant civil construction qualification or trade background

- White Card – Construction Induction (essential)

- 10+ years’ experience in civil construction, in senior leadership roles

- Proven experience in civil project or operations management

- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, plant and project delivery

- Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing multiple projects

- Strong understanding of WHS, environmental and quality requirements

- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

- Strong commercial, budgeting and cost-control understanding

- Current Driver’s Licence – HR Licence highly regarded

- Confidence using digital reporting and project management tools, including MS Office, Excel and Microsoft Project and Procore

- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
