Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Mental Health Clinician RPN to join our Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (SOACS-MH) Specialist Older Adult Community Service.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our six main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital.
In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About the Role
This role requires an enthusiastic Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 having experience working in community Mental health - including a passion caring for the older person.
- You will have an awareness of the complexities of mental health in older persons.
- Have sound assessment and risk assessment skills.
- You will be working as a Key Clinician.
- You will be mobile, adaptable and comfortable visiting a diverse range of Older adults in their home or aged care facilities.
- You will be confident and comfortable working as part of team and seeking support and consult of team members as required.
This role is for an Ongoing, Part Time position, 40 hours per fortnight. To be successful in this role you will have:
- Have current driver’s license and confidant navigating the Northern and in particular the North west areas of Melbourne.
- Experience of least 5 years working in mental health.
- Demonstrated Mental Health assessment / risk assessment skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, and able to safely prioritise community care- having sound time management skills and able to work as a collaborative team member.
- Able to Escalate concerns re safety, quality and risk to appropriate staff if unable to rectify yourself.
- Well-developed engagement skills, being able to work with older people from diverse / disenfranchised backgrounds. As well as Ability to undertake a range of interventions with consumers.
- Have completed a post graduate diploma in Mental health nursing and are a registered Nurse with APHRA.
