Are you passionate about plants, ecosystems, and making a genuine environmental impact? Ecosure is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Flora Ecologist to join our growing Central Queensland team based in Rockhampton.

This role is ideal for an emerging or developing ecologist looking to build their technical expertise while working on a diverse range of projects across renewable energy, infrastructure, local government, conservation and land management sectors.

You'll work alongside experienced ecologists and environmental professionals, contributing to projects that help protect and restore Australia's unique ecosystems. Our ecological work includes flora surveys, protected plant assessments, vegetation mapping, environmental approvals, ecological restoration and biodiversity management.

About the Role

As a Flora Ecologist, you'll contribute to a variety of ecological projects across Queensland, undertaking fieldwork, data analysis and report preparation while developing strong technical and project management capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Conducting flora surveys, vegetation assessments and protected plant surveys.
- Regional Ecosystem (RE) mapping and ground-truthing.
- Weed surveys, vegetation condition assessments and ecological monitoring.
- Assisting with environmental impact assessments and ecological reporting.
- Supporting biodiversity, offset and rehabilitation projects.
- Contributing to proposal preparation and client deliverables.
- Working collaboratively with fauna ecologists,



environmental scientists and project managers.
- Assisting with project planning, field logistics and stakeholder engagement.

About You

We're looking for someone who has a passion for field ecology and a desire to continue building their technical capability.

Essential Requirements

- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Botany or a related discipline.
- 1-5 years' experience in flora ecology, environmental consulting or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to identify native plant species and vegetation communities.
- Understanding of Queensland environmental legislation and ecological assessment processes.
- Strong written communication and report writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to undertake regional travel and fieldwork.

Highly Regarded

- Experience undertaking protected plant surveys.
- Knowledge of Central Queensland flora and Regional Ecosystems.
- QGIS or ArcGIS experience.
- Ecological restoration or rehabilitation experience.
- Construction White Card.
- 4WD competency and remote fieldwork experience.
- First Aid certification.
