- Contribute to APRA's role as prudential regulator of financial institutions
- Key role in driving initiatives that will support the uplift of risk culture across the financial services sector
- Role can be based in one of our APRA's offices Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane
The role Contribute to prudential supervision through performing risk identification and assessment assignments and supervisory engagement, across a group of general insurers, to achieve the government's and APRA's objective of promoting a prudentially sound financial system.

The team The General Insurance and Banking Division is responsible for the supervision of all general insurers and authorised deposit-taking institutions (ADIs). The Division supports APRA's core function through prudential supervision and risk assessment activities to support the government and APRA's objective of maintaining the safety and stability in the financial system. We are risk-based and proportionate, with a focus on our strategic objective of "getting the balance right"

Key responsibilities

- Performing analysis of supervised organisations' internal structures, business relationships and financial results, including financial risk management, to identify potential prudential concerns;
- Developing and applying a range of financial analysis and other supervisory skills to support high-quality analysis and risk assessment of supervised organisations;
- Contributing to the assessment of the quality of the supervised organisation's management, strategies, practices and systems;
- Lead engagements with key stakeholders, both internal and at supervised organisations; and




- Maintaining up to date knowledge of market issues, policy proposals and organisational priorities that may impact on supervised organisations and the broader general insurance industry.

About you

- A strong understanding of the general insurance sector and prudential framework;
- Up to date with financial market trends and legislative workplace;
- Excellent organisational and self-management skills;
- Strong financial analysis, investigative and research skills;
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills;
- Ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders at all levels; and
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
