About the role
As a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer (12 months fixed term), you will play a key role in the Cloud Operations and Shared Services team, designing, building and supporting secure, scalable and high-performing AWS cloud infrastructure that enables strategic growth and exceptional experiences for CBUS members and employers. Working closely with internal technology teams, vendors and stakeholders, you will help deliver enterprise-grade cloud solutions that align with business objectives and engineering best practices.
This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on cloud platform delivery, automation, security and operational excellence. You will lead cloud initiatives from design through to deployment and support, while driving continuous improvement, mentoring team members and ensuring the reliability, performance and cost-effectiveness of the CBUS cloud environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure and platform solutions.
- Manage and optimise AWS services including compute, networking, storage and serverless technologies.
- Lead end-to-end cloud initiatives including solution design, implementation, testing, documentation and operational support.
- Strengthen cloud security posture by proactively identifying, assessing and remediating security risks and findings.
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, CI/CD practices,
operational monitoring and knowledge sharing across teams.
What will you bring?
- Proven experience working within AWS cloud environments, including infrastructure automation using Terraform, AWS CLI and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Strong hands-on expertise across core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, networking and cloud security services.
- Experience with Linux and Windows administration, container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, and scripting with Python and Bash.
- Demonstrated capability implementing CI/CD pipelines, cloud monitoring solutions and delivering reliable production support.
- Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, performance optimisation and cost management, with experience working in Agile delivery environments.
