Jayco Adelaide
Adelaide
Fit the gear that gets people bush.
Bar work. Roof racks. Drawer systems. Suspension. Awnings, tanks, towing gear, and the odd fridge slide that the customer swears will fit.
At Jayco Adelaide you take a bare vehicle and turn it into something someone’s going to load the family into and point at the Flinders. You see the whole build, start to finish — not the same brake job forty times a week.
We’re after a 4WD Accessory Fitter for our West Beach workshop. If you’ve also got auto electrical skills, brilliant — we’ll use them and pay for them. If you haven’t, apply anyway. We’d rather have a good fitter and teach the 12V side than hold out for a unicorn with a Certificate III in everything.
What you’ll actually be doing
• Fitting the full ARB range — bull bars, roof racks and platforms, drawer and canopy systems, suspension upgrades, towbars and hitches, awnings, water tanks..
• Working across 4WDs, utes, camper trailers and caravans, motorhomes so the job changes shape week to week.
• Basic 12V work that comes with the territory — driving lights, UHF, reversing cameras, Anderson plugs and the like. Training provided if this is new to you.
• Getting the fit and finish right. Panel gaps that line up. Bolts torqued. Nothing rattling on the first corrugation.
• Pre-delivery checks and handovers — walking the customer through what you’ve built so they don’t ring us from Coober Pedy.
• Keeping your job cards straight. We know. Somebody has to.
What’s in it for you
• Excellent remuneration offered depending on what you can actually do — not what your résumé reckons you can do.
• Monday to Friday. No weekends. No on-call. No roadside callouts at 9pm in the rain on Port Wakefield Road.
• Your own bay, undercover, with hoist, air and lighting that works.
• Staff pricing on caravans, camper trailers, 4WD accessories and camping gear — which, let’s be honest, you were going to buy anyway.
• Paid training — Redarc, ARB, brake controller and 12V system accreditation. If you want your auto electrical ticket, lets talk about it.
• West Beach. Ten minutes from the CBD, five from the sand, and parking that isn’t a blood sport.
What we’re after
• Hands-on experience fitting 4WD accessories — or a mechanical, fabrication or fitting background and a genuine interest in touring gear.
• Someone who measures twice. We can teach product knowledge. We can’t teach caring whether it’s straight.
• Confidence with hand and power tools, drilling and cutting into customer vehicles without breaking into a sweat.
• Ability to read a fitting instruction — and the good sense to ring the supplier when the instruction is wrong, which it will be.
• A current driver’s licence.
• Relevant trade qualifications are great. A strong track record without them is also great. Tell us what you’ve got.
The bonus round: auto electrical
Not essential. Genuinely. But if you have it, this is where it gets interesting — and where the pay does too.
• Dual battery and DC-DC setups, lithium conversions, solar and inverters.
• Diagnostics and fault finding on 12V and 24V, including CANbus-equipped late-model 4WDs.
• Caravan and Motorhome 12V & 48V systems.
• A restricted electrical licence or auto electrical Certificate III puts you at the top of the pile.
Who we are
Jayco Adelaide has been suppling South Australian RV's since 1978. Family-owned, 53 people across sales, service and accessories, and a workshop culture that’s pretty simple: do the job properly, back each other up, leave the politics for the six o’clock news.
Our team members tend to stay and that’s the bit we’re actually proud of. Anyone can write “great team culture” in a job ad. Fewer can point at the same blokes still being there for many years.
How to apply
Hit Apply on Seek, or email your résumé straight to Jarrod Sommers — **************@jaycoadelaide.com.au .
A couple of lines about the best build you’ve done is worth more to us than a cover letter that calls you a passionate self-starter.
No agencies, thanks. We’re sure your candidate is exceptional. We’re still not taking the call.
