About The Opportunity The Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) Project is a key section of Inland Rail, upgrading more than 170 kilometers of rail corridor to improve freight efficiency and strengthen connections between regional communities and national markets.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to lead the commercial and contractual management of this critical project. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving commercial performance, managing contractual risk, leading a high-performing team, and delivering successful project outcomes through to completion.
Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited
- Lead commercial and contract management activities across the I2S Project.
- Manage variations, claims, provisional sums and contractual negotiations.
- Drive forecasting, cost management and commercial reporting.
- Oversee contractor performance, risk management and dispute resolution.
- Ensure compliance with governance, contractual frameworks and commercial processes.
- Partner with project delivery, finance, legal, procurement and project controls teams.
- Lead and develop a high-performing commercial team.
This role requires regular travel to the Illabo to Stockinbingal project site, with approximately 2-3 days on site each fortnight to support project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
About You
You are a commercially astute leader who can confidently navigate complex contractor relationships, drive successful commercial outcomes, and provide strategic advice across a major infrastructure project. You combine strong negotiation skills with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to delivering project outcomes safely, efficiently and with integrity.
You Should Be Able To Demonstrate
- Significant experience in commercial or contract management on major infrastructure, rail, construction or transport projects.
- Strong expertise in contract administration, variations, claims, commercial negotiations and risk management.
- Proven leadership experience managing commercial teams and contractor relationships.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in forecasting, cost control and project close-out.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
