Our valued State Government client is seeking an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in Maryborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a WHS qualified with experience in construction, maintenance, or a related industry to contribute to the delivery of safe and compliant work environments across operational sites.
About the Role
As the Workplace Health & Safety Advisor, you will provide practical WHS guidance and support to operational, supervisory, and management teams while ensuring compliance with workplace health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Conducting WHS&E; audits and site inspections across client and contractor-delivered works.
- Providing advice and guidance on Safety Management System (SMS) processes, legislative obligations, and best practice safety outcomes.
- Assisting with the development and delivery of WHS education and awareness sessions.
- Supporting incident reporting, investigations, and contractor notifiable incident management.
- Assisting with worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs.
- Coordinating emergency planning and response activities across offices and depots.
- Supporting the development, review, and implementation of SWMS, risk assessments, and WHS Management Plans.
- Assisting with regional and business WHS reporting.
- Contributing to the delivery of health and safety initiatives that meet stakeholder needs.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience in Workplace Health & Safety within construction,
maintenance, infrastructure, facilities, or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge of WHS hazards, risk management principles, and effective control measures.
- The ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and relevant Australian and International Standards.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build positive working relationships at all levels.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise advice and reporting.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Highly Desirable
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
- Previous experience working within government, construction, maintenance, or trade-based environments.
