Role Description The Senior Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Ballarat, VIC. This position is responsible for preparing accurate estimates and tenders for residential and commercial construction projects, including quantity take-offs, trades breakdowns, and cost analysis. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drawings and specifications, seeking and evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotes, and developing detailed cost plans and budgets.

The Senior

Estimator collaborates with project managers and directors to refine pricing strategies, identify risks, and support contract negotiations. The role also involves maintaining estimating databases, improving processes, and providing guidance to junior team members to ensure consistent, competitive,



and profitable bids.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience as an estimator or quantity surveyor within the building and construction industry, ideally at a senior level.
- Strong skills in reviewing architectural and engineering drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and preparing detailed cost estimates.
- Proficiency with estimating and construction management software, as well as MS Office (particularly Excel).
- Solid understanding of local building codes, standards, contracts, and procurement processes in Victoria.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines, organize workload, and work both independently and as part of a team-oriented team.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in residential and/or commercial projects in Australia; familiarity with Ballarat and regional markets is an advantage.
- Commitment to safety, ethical practices, and continuous improvement in estimating methods and project delivery.
