Adelaide | Permanent | In-house An established Australian organisation operating across the construction, industrial, infrastructure and environmental services sector is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its growing legal team.
This is a senior chance for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys partnering with operational and executive stakeholders and providing practical legal advice across complex projects and business operations.

The Legal Team plays an important role in supporting the business, managing legal and commercial risk and enabling successful project delivery.
About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will act as a trusted legal advisor to key areas of the business, developing strong relationships with senior stakeholders and operational teams.
You will provide commercially focused advice across contract negotiations, project delivery, disputes, claims and risk management, while also contributing to the ongoing development of legal processes and frameworks.
What You'll Do
- Provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice across the business
- Draft, negotiate and review contracts,
subcontracts and commercial agreements
- Lead contract negotiations and support project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Advise on disputes, claims, litigation and insurance matters, with a focus on early resolution
- Review and advise on variations, extensions of time and contractual claims
- Work closely with operational and project teams to identify and manage legal risk
- Manage external legal providers and associated legal expenditure
- Develop and deliver legal training and commercial awareness programs
- Support continuous improvement, legal compliance and risk management initiatives
- Assist with Board reporting and strategic legal projects
- Mentor and support junior members of the legal team
What You'll Bring
- Law degree and admission to practice in Australia
- 5 years' PAE across private practice and/or in-house environments
- Strong experience in commercial contracts, contract negotiation and dispute management
- Ability to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, industrial, resources or a related sector
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to legal risk
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior legal professionals
