About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Regional and Specialist team includes Integrated Specialist Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing Services, Primary Healthcare Services, Birthing and Early Childhood Services (South), and Child and Youth Services. Our purpose is to connect, guide, and empower teams and communities through culturally safe, transparent, and responsive ways.

About the Role?

As Senior Nurse – Pamela Mam Health Centre, your role is to deliver specialist community and primary health nursing services that focus on the prevention, early detection and management of health issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the position ensures effective screening, high-quality service delivery and sound administrative practices in line with the IUIH Model of Care. The role includes service delivery across designated primary clinic sites and outreach settings, operating under limited supervision as required, and provides leadership to the nursing team to support the highest standards of clinical practice.

In addition, as Senior Nurse, you will provide regular support and mentorship to clinic nurses, participate in Healthcare Quality and Safety processes, review data trends in line with Clinical Quality Improvement, and support the Senior GP and Practice Manager with clinical incident reviews and management.

Your day to day duties may include:





- Support nurses within the pod system through peer mentoring, guidance and qualified support.
- Provide routine screening services to patients, including blood pressure, blood sugar levels, temperature, urine testing, weight, length and head circumference for children under three years of age.
- Provide wound treatment and other clinical procedures as directed by the doctor.
- Conduct clinical audits, including vaccine fridge checks, infection control, training compliance and nurse competency adherence.

About You?

- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD).
- AHPRA Registration.
- Bachelor of Nursing.
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience.
- Current CPR Certificate.

Desirable, but not mandatory:

- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
