Role Description The Senior or Principal Civil Designer is a full-time hybrid role based in either Canberra or Brisbane, with flexibility for part of the work to be performed from home. This role leads the design and coordination of civil engineering projects and may include the preparation and review of detailed road geometry, site plans, stormwater layouts, erosion and sediment control measures, and related documentation. Day-to-day responsibilities include producing designs in 12d Model, overseeing design deliverables, providing technical guidance to junior designers, collaborating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.





The Senior or Principal Civil Designer will also liaise with clients and stakeholders, contribute to design strategy and best practices, and support continuous improvement in design workflows and digital tools.

Qualifications

- 7-15 years experience in civil infrastructure design
- Solid civil engineering design skills, including experience with Civil Engineering Design for transport, land development, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in developing and reviewing Site Plans, including grading, layouts, and detailed civil drawings.
- Knowledge of Erosion Control principles and practices, including sediment control design and construction-phase mitigation measures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading civil design on multidisciplinary projects and mentoring design teams.
- Must have high proficiency with 12d Model and familiarity with digital project collaboration tools.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD preferable.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
- Understanding of Australian standards and local regulatory frameworks; experience in the APAC region is an advantage.
