ABOUT THE ROLE
Join us as an Underground Mechanical Technician on a 2-year Fixed Term Contract at our Dendrobium Coal Mine , located near the vibrant coastal city of Wollongong, just 75 km south of Sydney.
As an Underground Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for supporting underground coal production by executing mechanical maintenance, inspections and repairs on plant and equipment across various process areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Executing work orders safely and in line with the work order management system
- Participating in job planning, task analysis and handovers
- Providing input into root cause analysis and improvement actions
- Recording maintenance history and reporting incidents promptly
- Reviewing and updating task lists, work instructions and procedures
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for this role, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Working in an underground mining or heavy industrial setting
- Maintaining mechanical systems, ideally including hydraulics
- Applying safe work practices, task analysis and hazard control
- Communicating clearly and contributing to team-based reviews
- Taking ownership of continuous improvement in daily work
To be successful in this role you’ll need the following qualifications, skills and competencies:
- Generic Underground Induction
- Mechanical Engineering Trade Certificate
- Hydraulics 1 & 2 Certificate
- Workcover Dogging Licence (desired)
- DES – Flameproof Diesel Engine systems (desired)
- Valid Driver’s Licence
- First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- Mining with a preference to underground coal mining
- A good work ethic, with motivation to work in challenging situations
