Role Description The Senior Tax Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Victoria, Australia. This role is responsible for managing and reviewing tax compliance and tax preparation for individuals, companies, and other entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant legislation and regulations. Day-to-day activities include preparing and reviewing tax returns and related schedules, advising clients on tax planning opportunities, and resolving complex tax issues.
The Senior Tax
Accountant will also prepare and analyze financial statements, support general accounting functions,
and collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality client service. The role involves direct client interaction, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to process improvements and technical knowledge within the firm.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Tax, including Tax Compliance and Tax Preparation, with the ability to interpret and apply relevant tax legislation.
- Proficiency in Accounting and Financial Statements, including preparation, review, and analysis for a range of entities.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA) or working toward such credentials, and a relevant tertiary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Experience in public practice or professional services, ideally in a senior or supervisory tax role.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax and accounting matters in clear, accessible language to clients and colleagues.
- Competence with accounting and tax software, and willingness to adopt new technologies and contemporary practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to mentor and support junior team members.
