About the roleThe National Parks and Wildlife Service Hunter Central Coast Branch is seeking a Spatial Data Officer (SDO) to provide specialist GIS services to support a range of land management and conservation initiatives.As the SDO, you'll lead diverse spatial data projects, from analysis and system design to database maintenance. In this role you'll be managing GIS databases with a focus on asset and pest management, responding to data requests, and developing spatial tools and models. You'll be the go-to person for technical support, specializing in ESRI software and providing expert advice on spatial data capture and storage. About YouYou will have expertise in using ESRI desktop mapping applications (ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro) and be able to use systems to answer questions related to land management. You will understand GIS data management, especially in spatial data and metadata standards.Working with others to identify and rollout system updates is a key requirement of this role, so you will have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders.You will be able to handle multiple task threads at the same time, as well as being able to work to tight deadlines. Essential requirementsAppropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to the discipline or equivalent experienceSound knowledge of GIS theory and how it is applied in an environmental management agency. Demonstrated advanced skills and experience with both raster and vector-based GIS,



including ESRI products and an understanding of GIS modelling techniques.Experience in data management principles within a geodatabase, including schema development and management, building models and scripts to help manage data in accordance with defined standardsCurrent Australian drivers licence and willingness to fly in light aircraft.
