Huntore Australia is a growing mining and exploration company operating in Far North Queensland. With an expanding portfolio of mining and exploration projects, we are looking for a Mining/Pit Geologist or Mining Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our open-cut mining activities.

This is a hands-on operational position suited to someone who enjoys working in the field.

The Role

Working closely with the Geology and Mining teams, you will be responsible for supporting safe and effective open-cut mining operations, with a particular focus on grade control, pit mapping, ore/waste definition and mine surveying.

Key responsibilities will include:

Open-cut grade control and ore/waste identification

Grade control drilling, sampling, logging and interpretation

Face and pit mapping

Orebody interpretation and geological modelling

Monitoring mining against geological models and mine plans

Ore mark-up and dig-line control

Sampling and QA/QC management

Mine surveying and pickup of mining faces, stockpiles and working areas

Supporting reconciliation of mined tonnes and grades

Stockpile management and grade reconciliation

Assisting with short-term mine planning and scheduling

Monitoring dilution, ore loss and mining performance

Working closely with mining contractors and operators to ensure ore is mined and processed as intended

Maintaining accurate geological, surveying and production records

Contributing to continuous improvement of Huntore's mining and grade control systems





Ensuring all work is undertaken in accordance with Huntore's safety and environmental requirements

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, adaptable and comfortable working in an operating mine environment. Local DIDO.

You will ideally have:

A degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or a related discipline

Experience in open-cut mining, grade control or mine geology

Experience with mine surveying or a willingness to develop these skills

Strong understanding of ore/waste definition and grade control processes

Good computer skills and experience with geological or mining software

Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving

The ability to work independently and make decisions in the field

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with mining contractors and operational teams

Experience with tin or other hard-rock deposits would be highly regarded, but is not essential.
