Job Description
About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Environmental Business Partner, this key role will see you partner with leaders and operational teams to provide environmental advice and support across Port Waratah’s operations. You will help influence environmental performance across a large-scale industrial environment, supporting improvement, compliance and sustainability outcomes with a focus on water, dust and noise management.
You will play a hands-on role in supporting Port Waratah’s Environmental Management System, coordinating environmental monitoring and reporting, contributing to environmental projects,
and identifying practical opportunities to improve environmental outcomes across the business. The role also involves engagement with regulators and community stakeholders to support positive relationships and transparent environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities Include
Coordinating environmental improvement initiatives in partnership with stakeholders, balancing planned projects and emerging priorities to deliver performance improvements. Providing practical environmental advice and support to operational teams, contractors and project stakeholders. Using environmental data and performance insights to identify opportunities, inform decisions and support continuous improvement. Monitoring environmental performance and compliance with environmental approvals, licenses and legislative requirements. Investigating environmental incidents and supporting effective corrective actions. Supporting Environmental Management System and ISO 14001 certification.

What We Are Looking For
Degree qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline (essential). Experience in environmental management,
compliance and reporting within a heavy industrial and/or similarly regulated environment. Experience with environmental monitoring programs, particularly relating to water, air quality and noise. Experience conducting formal incident investigations, root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions. Experience delivering environmental improvement initiatives and achieving measurable performance outcomes. Knowledge of environmental legislation, approvals and compliance requirements. Effective stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills. Demonstrated project management, problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
