Ready to take ownership of a 1,000sqm showroom, lead a team and have a genuine voice in how the business operates?

Northside Cleaning & Packaging Supplies (NCPS) is looking for an experienced and capable Showroom Team Leader to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of our busy Morayfield showroom.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys responsibility, sets high standards and takes pride in seeing their area perform well.

About the role

As Showroom Team Leader, you'll take day-to-day ownership of our 1,000sqm showroom and lead a customer service team of up to four direct reports, including two full-time team members and casual staff.

You'll be responsible for making sure the showroom runs exceptionally well — customers are acknowledged and looked after, the team knows what needs to be done, shelves are stocked and professionally presented, cash and POS processes are accurate, and issues are followed through rather than left for someone else.

You'll lead from the front and spend plenty of time on the showroom floor serving customers, processing sales, answering product questions and working alongside your team.

But you'll also be expected to step back and see the bigger picture.

A customer hasn't been approached? A shelf is empty? Presentation has slipped? A team member needs direction? A customer collection needs following up? A process could work better?

You'll take ownership and get it sorted.

Importantly, you won't be operating in isolation.

You'll become one of four Team Leaders across the business, working alongside our Manager, Purchasing Manager and Warehouse Manager.

You'll participate in regular Team Leader meetings with our Managing Director and business owners, representing the showroom team and contributing ideas, customer feedback, opportunities and solutions to wider business issues.

This is an opportunity to genuinely own an area of the business and make an impact.

Key responsibilities

- Take day-to-day ownership of the operation and presentation of our 1,000sqm showroom.

- Lead, coordinate and support a customer service team of up to four direct reports.

- Set daily priorities and provide clear direction to full-time and casual team members.

- Lead from the front and work alongside your team serving customers.

- Maintain high standards of customer service, productivity and showroom presentation.

- Coach and develop team members in customer service, sales and product knowledge.

- Set expectations, provide feedback and address performance or standards issues when required.

- Coordinate showroom staffing, breaks and day-to-day coverage.

- Proactively acknowledge customers, understand their needs and recommend suitable products.

- Identify opportunities to increase sales by recommending complementary or alternative products that add genuine value.

- Process sales, cash,

EFTPOS and customer account payments accurately.

- Manage daily till procedures, cash handling, balancing and opening and closing requirements.

- Ensure shelves are stocked, faced up, accurately priced and professionally presented.

- Monitor low and out-of-stock products and coordinate replenishment with our warehouse and purchasing teams.

- Maintain shelf tickets, promotional signage, merchandising and product displays.

- Coordinate customer pickup orders and follow up outstanding collections.

- Assist with customer enquiries, product availability and quotations.

- Resolve customer concerns professionally and make sure issues are followed through.

- Maintain a clean, organised and safe showroom environment.

- Identify opportunities to improve showroom processes, sales and the overall customer experience.

- Represent the showroom team in Team Leader meetings and contribute to wider business improvements.

About you

We're looking for someone who wants to be accountable for the performance of their area, not someone who needs to be given a task list each morning.

You'll ideally

- Have robust customer service, retail sales, trade retail or similar experience.

- Have previous experience leading, supervising or providing direction to a team.

- Be confident leading a mix of full time and casual employees.

- Lead from the front rather than managing from the sidelines.

- Have high personal standards and notice the details others sometimes miss.

- Take ownership without needing to be constantly directed.

- Be comfortable setting expectations and holding people accountable.

- Be confident handling cash, EFTPOS, POS transactions and daily till procedures.

- Be naturally comfortable approaching customers and starting conversations.

- Have a commercial mindset and recognise opportunities to improve sales and customer experience.

- Enjoy coaching people and helping a team improve.

- Be organised and able to balance customers, staffing and operational priorities.

- Be practical, decisive and comfortable solving day-to-day problems.

- Be confident contributing ideas and representing your team in leadership discussions.

- Be willing to learn a large and varied product range.

- Be reliable, accountable and take genuine pride in your work.

- Be available to work Saturdays as part of the showroom roster.

Experience in cleaning supplies, packaging, hospitality, foodservice, hardware,

trade retail or a related industry would be highly regarded, but leadership ability, attitude and ownership are more important to us than industry experience.

We don't expect you to know our entire product range on day one. We do expect you to be curious, willing to learn and motivated to become highly knowledgeable.

The challenge A 1,000sqm showroom, thousands of products, a diverse mix of trade and retail customers and a team to lead doesn't run itself.

That's the opportunity.

We want someone who can walk into their area, see what is working, identify what isn't and take responsibility for making it better.

You'll have the scope to lift standards, develop your team, improve the customer experience and make the showroom an area of the business you're genuinely proud to lead.

You'll also have a seat at the table with the other Team Leaders, Managing Director and owners, giving you the opportunity to contribute beyond the showroom and develop a broader understanding of how the business operates.

If you're looking for a position where you can simply turn up, serve customers and wait to be told what to do, this probably isn't the role for you.

If you enjoy taking responsibility, solving problems, developing people and seeing the results of your work, we'd like to hear from you.
