Bring Motorsport to Life – One Reel, Story and Frame at a Time

The Bend and Mallala Motorsport Park are looking for a talented Social Media & Content Specialist to help bring our venues, events and experiences to life across social media and digital channels. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to spot the moment, capture it and turn it into content people want to watch, share and engage with.

From major motorsport events and drag racing to karting, driver experiences, accommodation and behind-the-scenes moments, no two days are quite the same.

If you’re equally comfortable behind a camera, editing a Reel, writing sharp social copy and jumping into the comments, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

Working as part of The Bend’s Marketing Team and reporting to the Head of Marketing, you’ll help deliver the day-to-day social media and digital content for The Bend, Mallala Motorsport Park and our associated precinct brands. You’ll work within our broader marketing strategies, campaigns and content plans to create high-quality content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn.

The role combines social media, photography, videography, editing, community management and live-event content, with plenty of opportunity to bring ideas to the table, identify emerging trends and recommend recent ways to improve our content.

About The Bend & Mallala

The Bend is one of Australia’s most diverse motorsport and entertainment destinations, located approximately one hour from Adelaide. The precinct brings together circuit racing, drag racing, karting, driver experiences, major events and accommodation at Rydges Pit Lane Hotel and BIG4 The Bend. Mallala Motorsport Park is one of South Australia’s most historic motorsport venues and remains an important home for circuit racing, drifting, driver training, karting and grassroots motorsport.

Together, the two venues offer an incredibly diverse content environment across multiple motorsport disciplines, brands, audiences and experiences.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be responsible for the hands-on delivery of social media and content across our brands, including:

- Creating engaging content including Reels, Stories, Carousels, photography, video and written social content
- Capturing photography and video across events, experiences and day-to-day venue activity
- Filming interviews, promotional content and live-event moments
- Editing short- and long-form video for different digital platforms and audiences
- Scheduling and publishing content in line with approved campaigns and content plans
- Adapting messaging and creative for different platforms
- Managing the day-to-day administration of our social media channels

- Monitoring and responding to comments, messages and community interactions
- Helping build a positive and engaged online community
- Identifying social trends, emerging formats and new content opportunities
- Bringing ideas and recommendations to the Marketing Team
- Supporting approved influencer, ambassador and creator activity
- Providing timely social coverage during major events
- Coordinating content requirements with marketing, event and precinct teams
- Assisting with photographers, videographers and other content suppliers when required
- Preparing approved content for in-venue digital screens
- Maintaining an organised photography and video content library
- Monitoring content performance including reach, engagement, audience growth and video performance
- Undertaking competitor and industry benchmarking to help continually improve our content

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines strong creative instincts with the technical ability to turn ideas into great content.

You’ll ideally bring

- Demonstrated experience in social media, digital content creation, photography, videography, communications or a related field
- Strong photography and videography skills
- Confident video-editing capability
- Experience creating content specifically for social and digital platforms
- Strong written communication and social copywriting skills
- A good understanding of what makes content work across different platforms and audiences
- Experience using relevant editing, design, publishing and social media management software
- The ability to work from varied briefs, campaign requirements and brand guidelines
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own workload and deadlines
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a broader team
- A strong eye for quality, branding and visual consistency
- Confidence working in a fast-paced live-event environment
- A genuine interest in social media, emerging content trends, events and digital storytelling

A passion for motorsport is certainly an advantage — but if you love creating great content and understand what excites an audience, we’d still like to hear from you.

Working Hours & Weekend Roster

Motorsport happens on weekends — and this role needs to be where the action is.

This position involves substantial and regular weekend work and is not a traditional Monday-to-Friday role. It should also be noted that due to the role requirements, there is no opportunity to work from home.

The successful applicant will work across a rolling fortnightly roster, with working days scheduled around the venue’s event, content and operational requirements.

This means

- Weekend work will form a regular part of your ordinary roster, particularly around major events, race meetings and experiences.
- Your roster may include Saturday and/or Sunday, with rostered days off occurring during the week.
- Working days and days off are planned across a two-week roster cycle in line with the events calendar and Marketing Team requirements.
- During event periods, you’ll be onsite actively capturing, producing and publishing content while the action is happening.
- Some events may require flexibility around early starts, later finishes and hours outside standard office times.
- Where possible, rosters will be planned in advance to provide visibility of upcoming weekend commitments and rostered days off.

Applicants should be comfortable with regular weekend work as an inherent and important part of the position. The upside? You’ll spend plenty of time trackside, behind the scenes and in the middle of some of South Australia’s biggest motorsport events — with rostered weekday time off as part of the cycle.

Why Join The Bend?

Few content roles offer this much variety. One week you could be trackside covering a major motorsport event; the next filming a driver experience, creating content at the Kartdrome, shooting accommodation and hospitality content or turning an unexpected behind-the-scenes moment into your next high-performing Reel.

You’ll work across an unusually diverse range of brands, audiences, events and experiences as part of a collaborative Marketing Team.

And importantly — there’s no shortage of horsepower.

Ready to Create?

If you’re a creative, capable and proactive content specialist looking for a role where there is always something happening, we’d love to hear from you. ? Apply now by submitting your resume and cover letter.

We’d also love to see examples of your work, so please include a portfolio, showreel, social media account or links to content you’ve created where possible.

A valid driver’s licence and relevant employment screening requirements may apply to the position.

In line with our Child Safe Policy, The Bend complies with all Working with Children requirements as prescribed by the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 to create a safe environment for children across our site.

Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
