About the Team The Marketing and Communication Unit (MCU) takes the lead in developing strategies and relationships to build the UTS brand to achieve its desired prominence in the marketplace. It is responsible for effectively promoting and enhancing the image and reputation of the university through the development and implementation of marketing plans, media and public relations activities, internal communication and corporate identity strategy. MCU has both internal and external clients and delivers services to support them and to promote the overall strategic development of the university.
The Strategic Communication team delivers best practice, innovative and targeted communication to priority audiences to protect and enhance UTS’s reputation and achieve the UTS 2030 objectives. It plays a leading role in building advocacy amongst key audiences, and in managing the university’s corporate reputation during issues or emergencies.
About the Role The Staff Communication Advisor supports the Staff Communication Lead and Internal Communications Manager in designing and delivering communications that inform, inspire and connect UTS staff, encouraging advocacy, engagement and a sense of community, while supporting the university’s ambition to be known as a world-leading university of technology.
The Staff Communication Advisor develops and executes official UTS communication programs for staff. They support mapping and surveys of this audience, as well as providing audience insights and tactical recommendations to internal stakeholders to inform the development of communications and engagement strategies. They manage enterprise-level broadcast communication channels, produce high-quality content for a variety of channels and formats, and encourage best-practice communication across the university.
If successful you will be responsible for:
- Identifying opportunities to effectively engage UTS through high-impact communication programs and strategies, using a variety of internal channels.
- Building strategic collaborative relationships with colleagues across the university to facilitate knowledge sharing, refine messaging and ensure clarity and consistency in all aspects of communication.
- Managing and optimising enterprise-level staff communication channels, including researching and responding to emerging trends in communications technology and audience behaviour.
- Preparing and distributing key communication materials for university-wide and targeted audience groups, with a focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail
- Measuring and evaluating the success of internal communication activities, to inform improvements or alternative approaches.
- Providing strategic communication advice to internal stakeholders and advocating on behalf of the university’s distinctive identity.
- Facilitating and assisting in the delivery of internal communication training for UTS staff.

1. Excellent written communication and content skills with proven ability to create clear, engaging and audience-focused content across multiple channels and formats.

3. Audience-centred approach with experience using audience insights, research and data to develop effective communication approaches.
4. Measurement and optimisation skills with ability to evaluate communication outcomes, interpret engagement metrics and apply insights to improve results.
5. Excellent organisation and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate competing deadlines and deliver high-quality work with attention to detail.

Knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Microsoft SharePoint would be an advantage
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $111,740 - $123,611 pa (HEW 7)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
