Position Description
CGI is currently seeking multiple Satcom Engineers to join our growing team in Canberra. This is an opportunity to become part of our Space, Defence & Intelligence unit as it continues to grow from the ground up.
CGI is a global leader in mission-critical software systems for the space industry. We work on major European navigation, communication, and earth-observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems.
Our deep expertise in the space sector, combined with our contribution to significant technical advancements, has enabled us to support many of the world’s most prestigious space programmes. These include Cassini-Huygens, Galileo, Copernicus, Inmarsat 4, MSG, MTG, MTSAT, Rosetta, Skynet, and XMM-Newton. To date, our software has supported missions for more than 200 satellites.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Satcom Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of satellite communication systems. This role requires a highly skilled professional with experience in satellite communications and the ability to operate within a secure setting.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing, configuring, and maintaining satellite communication systems and networksPerforming system analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimisationCollaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and integrate current solutionsEnsuring compliance with security protocols and standardsPreparing and maintaining detailed documentation for system designs, configurations,



and proceduresConducting regular system testing and updates to ensure reliability and efficiency
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
Minimum of 1 year’s experience in satellite communicationsUnderstanding of RF, satellite link budgets, and modulation techniquesExperience with satellite communication hardware and softwareStrong problem-solving skills with high attention to detailAbility to work effectively within a team environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsActive security clearance or the ability to obtain one
